Introduction

i-KNOW reflects the increasing importance and convergence of knowledge management and knowledge technologies and aims at bridging the gaps between the various communities and their technology fields. Now in its eleventh year, i-KNOW has a tradition of bringing together Europe´s leading researchers and practitioners involved in knowledge management. Attracting more than 500 international attendees, i-KNOW is the premier conference on knowledge management and knowledge technologies in Europe.
i-KNOW provides a perfect opportunity to stay abreast of the latest developments in these fields. The novelty and quality of the accepted contributions are ensured by a high-level program committee featuring international experts on a broad range of knowledge management topics. i-KNOW 2011 will be held concurrently with the I-SEMANTICS 2011- International Conference on Semantic Systems.

Submissions and Conference Proceedings

i-KNOW 2011 invites the submission of original contributions from academic, public and industrial/commercial sectors. The conference focus is on application-oriented research with emphasis on information technologies for knowledge management and new management tools and methods. We welcome papers which present methods, tools, technologies best practices, and case studies. Selected papers will appear in a special issue of J.UCS – Journal of Universal Computer Science. This message is to remind you that ICE 2011 takes place in Aachen, Germany, 20 – 22 June 2011. It is the 17th in a series of Annual Conferences, which regularly attracts over 300 delegates from around the world belonging to leading commercial, government and research organizations to share knowledge and experience, lessons learnt and good practice.

This year the ICE conference will focus on “Innovating Products and Services for Collaborative Networks”. The programme will combine strategic keynote presentations, technical and policy papers, case studies, workshops, exhibition and social activities. The programme will showcase results from projects funded at national and regional level as well as those funded by European Commission Research Programmes.

We are now inviting extended abstracts (min. 1,200 – max. 1,500 words) for technical papers, visionary papers, business and government case studies. Related themes and suggestions for papers and sessions are outlined in the Call for Papers www.ice-conference.org. All abstracts must be submitted online by 01 February for double blind peer review by the International Programme Committee (Short extension in the deadline is possible on request).

Proposals to arrange 90 minute workshop sessions are also welcome.

CSCW 2012 will be the twenty-fourth CSCW conference and will be held February 11-15 near Seattle, Washington, USA. Seattle offers a vibrant, culturally rich city near forests, mountains, and sea, and with a surprisingly mild climate.

CSCW is a premier venue for presenting research in the design and use of technologies that affect groups, organizations, and communities. CSCW encompasses both the technical and social challenges encountered when supporting collaboration. The development and application of new technologies continues to enable new ways of working together and coordinating activities. Although work is an area of focus, CSCW embraces research and technologies supporting a wide range of recreational and social activities using a diverse range of devices. The conference brings together top researchers and practitioners from academia and industry who are interested in both technical and social aspects of collaboration.

In der Fakultät für Ingenieurwissenschaften und Informatik ist zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt eine
W3-Professur für Mensch-Computer-Interaktion (ohne Leitungsfunktion)
im Institut für Medieninformatik zu besetzen.

Der Bewerber/Die Bewerberin soll das Fach Mensch-Computer-Interaktion und seine inhaltliche und methodische Grundlegung in der Informatik mit engem Bezug zu den relevanten Bereichen der Psychologie in Forschung und Lehre vertreten.

Die fachlichen Schwerpunkte der Professur sollen in einem oder mehreren der folgenden Gebiete liegen:
Gestaltung und kognitive Ergonomie innovativer Benutzerschnittstellen
Methoden und Werkzeuge zur Entwicklung interaktiver Systeme
Adaptivität, Benutzer- und Interaktionsmodellierung
Usability Evaluation und deren Methoden

Die Ausrichtung der Professur steht in enger Verbindung zur Medieninformatik und zur Psychologie. Die zukünftige wissenschaftliche Tätigkeit soll sich in die Forschungsstrukturen der Fakultät und der Universität Ulm, insbesondere in den SFB/Transregio 62 „Eine Companion-Technologie für kognitive technische Systeme“ einbetten. Erfahrung in der Einwerbung von Drittmitteln und der Mitarbeit in internationalen Forschungskooperationen wird vorausgesetzt.

Die Professur beteiligt sich an der Ausbildung sowie der Weiterentwicklung von den Bachelor- und Masterstudiengängen Medieninformatik und Psychologie. Erwartet wird außerdem eine Beteiligung an der akademischen Selbstverwaltung.

Einstellungsvoraussetzungen sind ein abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium, pädagogische Eignung, Promotion und zusätzliche wissenschaftliche Leistungen (§ 47 LHG).

Die Universität Ulm strebt eine Erhöhung des Anteils von Frauen in Forschung und Lehre an und bittet deshalb qualifizierte Wissenschaftlerinnen nachdrücklich um ihre Bewerbung.
